Surplex launches exclusive auction of heavy-duty port cranes from the Port of Koper (Slovenia)

Renewal programme creates rare opportunity to acquire proven container handling equipment from one of Central Europe’s most important maritime hubs

Düsseldorf / Ljubljana, 17 February 2026 – Surplex, Europe’s leading industrial auction house, has launched an exclusive online auction featuring heavy-duty port cranes and container handling equipment from the Port of Koper in Slovenia. The assets are being offered as part of a major fleet renewal and modernisation programme at the port, opening a rare opportunity for operators worldwide to acquire well-maintained terminal equipment with a proven operational track record.

The auction includes mobile gantry cranes, pneumatic bridge cranes and container handling systems that have been used in high-capacity port operations. These machines reflect the robust engineering standards and long service life typically associated with Europe’s established maritime infrastructure.

Located on the Adriatic Sea, the Port of Koper is one of Central Europe’s most strategic logistics gateways, serving key hinterland markets across Slovenia, Austria, Hungary, Slovakia, the Czech Republic and southern Germany. The equipment now coming to market has played a central role in supporting container throughput and vessel operations at the port for many years.

Heavy-duty cranes for demanding port operations

Among the highlights of the auction are several RTG 8W pneumatic bridge cranes, activated between 2004 and 2008, which have been deployed for container stacking and yard operations. In addition, the auction features a KD-54 STS G.493 container shore crane, activated in 2005, designed for ship-to-shore handling and vessel loading and unloading.

All assets are offered online through Surplex’s international auction platform, providing buyers with transparent access, detailed technical documentation and clear bidding procedures.

Global reach, local expertise

“With this auction, we are bringing a unique portfolio of heavy-duty port equipment to the global market,” says Nedeljko Tomic, Country manager Slovenia at Surplex. “Assets of this scale and origin rarely become available through open online auctions. By combining Surplex’s international reach with local on-site expertise, we enable buyers worldwide to participate confidently in complex industrial transactions.”

Interested parties can inspect the equipment by appointment and will benefit from Surplex’s end-to-end auction services, including asset marketing, buyer support and coordination of dismantling and logistics where required.

The auction is now live and open to bidders worldwide.
